2010-2011 SPACE Program Holds Closing Ceremony

Posted on September 7, 2011

The 2011 closing ceremony of the SPACE program, the Saga University Program for Academic Exchange, was held on August 22nd at University Hall.

SPACE is a one-year exchange program designed for international students from overseas universities that have an exchange agreement with Saga University. SPACE accepts about 20 students every October. This year 17 students from the United States, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka, for example, completed the program.

At the ceremony, University President Dr. Hotokebuchi awarded certificates to all participants and offered them his warm congratulations and best wishes. In his speech the President remarked, “I hope all of you can act as a bridge between your country and Japan to further strengthen and deepen our ties of mutual friendship.”

At the end of the ceremony, each student gave a speech in fluent Japanese and recalled, with tears and laughter, treasured memories of a year in Japan.
