The Completion Ceremony of Japanese Studies Program

On September 21, Ms. Nguyen Lan Thi, the first student of Saga University’s Japanese Studies Program, earned the required number of credits and completed the programs offered by the International Student Center. Ms. Lan, from Vietnam National University, Hanoi, came to Japan for one year to study. Being watched over by tutors, friends and teachers, Ms. Lan was handed a certificate by Professor Yanagida, the director of the International Student Center.

Ms. Lan came to Japan in September, 2009 with a recommendation from the Vietnamese Embassy. She enrolled in the Faculty of Culture and Education and did research on Japanese and Japanese Culture as well as experiencing the Japanese culture. She said, “When I first came to Japan, I felt lonely, but thanks to the kindnesses of teachers and friends, I have enjoyed my year here.”

Lan has been working on research about the “Dialects of Saga” and will continue the research after she goes back to Vietnam.
