On February 12, 2026, nine graduate students and faculty members from India and Nepal—invited through Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST)’s Sakura Science Exchange Program and representing partner institutions such as Sri Vishnu Educational Society (SVES) and Tribhuvan University—visited President Koichi Node of Saga University.

Hosted by Faculty of Agriculture, the program provided training in an innovative genome analysis method developed by Professor Yukio Nagano, supporting joint research on plant genetic information. Vice President Maiko Sakamoto and Dean Akihiro Suzuki also joined the meeting.

At the meeting, one of the Indian researchers expressed a strong wish to apply the advanced techniques learned at Saga University back in India, aiming to contribute to research and education upon returning home. Meanwhile, one of the Nepalese researchers noted that access to technologies unavailable in Nepal had been highly inspiring and expressed hope to improve local research practices.

Participants also shared that Japan’s disciplined culture and respect for others left a lasting impression and deepened their cross-cultural understanding. Mr. Raju Aedla, the administrative representative from India, expressed his intention to further expand academic collaboration between the two countries. President Node welcomed the visiting researchers and voiced expectations for deeper international collaboration and strengthened ties with partner institutions. Saga University will continue to support faculty-led international projects, expand networks with partner universities, and promote global talent exchange.
