On April 1st, Saga University received a courtesy visit from six people, including President Octovian B.A. Sompie of Sam Ratulangi University in Indonesia, with whom Saga University has had an inter-university exchange agreement since 2002, Dr. Cindy J. Supit, a graduate of Saga University and Chairman of Civil Engineering Program, and three international students who began studying at Saga University this April. The courtesy visit took place in the International Exhibition Room, located within the Industry-Academia Exchange Plaza, which opened at the end of March 2025.

　President KODAMA Hiroaki, Vice President (International Affairs) MISHIMA Nobuo, and others warmly welcomed the group. President Kodama gave a welcome speech, expressing his appreciation for their return visit and their attendance at the entrance ceremony on April 2. Rector Octovian B.A. Sompie expressed his gratitude for having hosted many international students and his desire to continue to deepen the relationship. The courtesy visit was conducted in a friendly atmosphere, and at the end of the visit, President Kodama presented an Arita porcelain clock from Saga Prefecture as a commemorative gift, followed by a commemorative photo.

　After the courtesy visit, a meeting was held in the Office of the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology with Dean SATO Kazuya. They discussed the potential for future expansion of education and research collaboration between the two universities. Currently, the Faculty of Science and Engineering is engaged in joint education with Indonesia under the Saga University Strategic Partnership Program, and they explored further development possibilities.

　Saga University has academic exchange agreements with 12 institutions in Indonesia. Last October, a courtesy visit by the president of Sam Ratulangi University and other officials took place, and the academic exchange agreement was renewed in November.  This latest visit is expected to further strengthen the relationship and enhance collaboration through student and research exchanges.
