Isofloridoside was found to be a “sweetener” for nori.

A research group at Saga University’s Faculty of Agriculture has discovered that isofloridosides are a “sweet” component of nori.
Nori (Susabinori) is a common seaweed eaten in Japan. It is known to contain floridosides, which are glycerol bound to galactose. For the first time, researchers have shown at the molecular level that isofloridosides, which are present in large amounts in purslane, are able to act on human sweet taste receptors.
