Saga University Welcomes Yonsei University AMP Delegation for Second Consecutive Year, Advancing University-wide Collaboration

Saga University hosted the “AMP[1] Class Japan Seminar Study Group” from Yonsei University at its Faculty of Economics on May 28. The visit was conducted as part of a training program under a research exchange agreement signed in 2024 between the Research Center for Social Issues at Saga University Faculty of Economics and the Center for Global ESG[2] & Business Ethics at Yonsei University School of Business, marking the second consecutive year of the initiative.

The program opened with welcoming remarks from President Koichi Nodé and Dean Hiroshi Haneishi. President Nodé referred to the warm congratulatory message delivered online by Yonsei University President Dong-Sup Yoon at the KABE[3] Joint International Conference held at Saga University last December. He expressed his sincere appreciation to Professor Soonhong Min, who led the delegation, as well as to Dean Hiroshi Haneishi, Professor Ryunosuke Sonoda, and all those involved in organizing the program. With interpretation provided by Professor Kyunghyun Min, President Nodé emphasized that, under the “Saga University Vision 2040” and its guiding principle of “Opening the Future with Practical Wisdom,” the practical knowledge networks fostered through international exchange will serve as a key driving force in advancing the university’s vision of becoming a “University for Co‑creating the Regional Future.” Dean Haneishi also reiterated his welcome, stating, “It is a great pleasure to continue the rich and sustained exchanges we have built since last year. Your return visit has further deepened the strong bond between our two institutions.”

Following the remarks, Yonsei University presented President Nodé with its prestigious ‘1885 Commemorative Wine,’ a special limited‑edition gift named after the university’s founding year (1885) and reserved for its most distinguished guests. In return, Saga University presented an Arita‑yaki wine cup, a traditional craft from Arita—the birthplace of Japanese porcelain—symbolizing the region’s longstanding ties with the Korean Peninsula. The exchange, reflecting shared historical connections, was met with enthusiastic applause.

During the special lecture, Professor Emeritus Hanmo Jang delivered an engaging presentation on global ESG trends and corporate ethics, leading to a lively exchange of perspectives among participants. The program concluded with closing remarks by Professor Sonoda.

Saga University has maintained active academic exchange and joint research with Yonsei University for nearly two decades, based on an agreement established in 2005 between the Faculty of Science and Engineering and Yonsei University. Looking ahead, the Faculty of Economics will host an international symposium this October and will further strengthen joint research initiatives while expanding university-wide collaboration with the Center for Global ESG & Business Ethics at Yonsei University School of Business.
