　佐賀大学は、３月２７日、「友好特使委嘱状授与式」を開催し、タイからの本学元留学生のパウィニー・イアムトラクル氏、スゥブシット・サンティサート氏、パキン・アナンバット氏の３名を友好特使に任命しました。

　「佐賀大学友好特使」は元留学生等に任命するもので、友好特使を通じて留学生交流や国際交流を図ることにより、本学の国際化を推進することを目的としています。

　本学からは兒玉学長や山下教育担当理事・寺本国際担当理事・副学長等が出迎え、兒玉学長より、本学への訪問とタイにおける同窓会設立への尽力に対して、感謝の意を述べられました。

　友好特使に任命された３名は、佐賀大学タイ留学生同窓会の設立に大いに尽力し、同会の初代役員を務めています。同会会長のパウィニー氏は、工学系研究科博士後期課程を修了後、タマサート大学で教員を務めており、国内外のプロジェクトに従事し、研究者としても多方面で活躍しています。同会副会長のスゥブシット氏は交換留学生として本学で学び、同会秘書のパキン氏は交換留学を経て経済学研究科修士課程を修了し、現在はタイの企業に勤務しながら日本留学について発信する等、多方面で活動しています。

　授与式後、一行は、タイからの留学生増加に向けた取り組みや令和５年度にタイで開催予定の海外版ホームカミングデーについて、活発な意見交換を行いました。友好特使からは、佐賀大学タイ留学生同窓会を通じた広報活動についての様々な提案があり、タイでの海外版ホームカミングデー開催に向けて、互いに連携しながら国際広報の充実を図っていくことについて確認しました。

　その後、本学に在籍するタイ人留学生と交流を深めるためのミニ同窓会を開催し、他県で活躍する同窓生も駆けつけ、互いに現在の仕事や研究の状況について情報交換する等、同窓生同士の交流と絆を深め、笑顔の絶えない会となりました。また同時に、タイの本学同窓会役員と現役の留学生がつながる大変貴重な機会となりました。

　今後、タイ在住の佐賀大学元留学生として、帰国後はタイ人留学生とのネットワークづくりを深化させ、日本に興味を持つタイの学生に対して佐賀大学の魅力を発信し、留学生の増加を図っていく予定です。さらなる本学とタイとの交流の発展に大きく寄与してくれることが期待されます。

On March 27th, Saga University held a “Special Envoy Commissioning Ceremony” and appointed three of its former international students from Thailand, Dr. Pawinee Iamtrakul, Mr. Suebsit Sarntisart and Mr. Pakin Ananbat as special envoys.

The “Saga University Special Envoys” are appointed to former international students, with the aim of promoting the university’s internationalization through student exchange and international exchange activities.

The university’s president and other officials welcomed the newly appointed special envoys and expressed their gratitude for their efforts to establish the Saga University Thai Alumni Association and to visit the university.

The three special envoys appointed have made significant contributions to the establishment of the Saga University Thai Alumni Association, serving as its first officers. Dr. Pawinee, the association’s president, graduated from the graduate school of engineering and is currently a faculty member at Thammasat University, where Dr. Pawinee is involved in domestic and international projects and active in various fields as a researcher. Mr. Suebsit, the association’s vice president, studied at Saga University as an exchange student and Mr. Pakin, the association’s secretary, completed a master’s degree in the graduate school of economics after studying abroad as an exchange student. Mr. Pakin is currently working for a Thai company and promoting studying abroad in Japan.

After the ceremony, the group engaged in a lively discussion on measures to increase the number of Thai students studying at Saga University and plans for an overseas version of the Homecoming Day to be held in Thailand in fiscal year 2023. The special envoys proposed various initiatives for publicizing the Saga University Thai Alumni Association and confirmed their commitment to working together to enhance international public relations in preparation for the Homecoming Day event.

Following the ceremony, a mini-alumni reunion was held to deepen the exchange between Thai students currently studying at Saga University and alumni living in other prefectures. The attendees shared information about their current work and research, deepening their bonds and creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. This was also a valuable opportunity for Thai alumni association officials and current exchange students to connect.

In the future, as former international students of Saga University living in Thailand, the newly appointed special envoys will deepen their network with Thai students after their return to Thailand, promote the appeal of Saga University to Thai students interested in studying in Japan and work to increase the number of international students studying at the university. They are expected to make significant contributions to further developing the exchange between Saga University and Thailand.
