　佐賀大学は、４月２４日～２５日、２００２年から本学と大学間交流協定を締結しているインドネシア・サムラツランギ大学のFabian J. Manoppo工学部長がOctovian B.A. Sompie 学長の代理として、本学を卒業し、当大学で活躍されている元留学生４名による学長表敬を受けました。

　当大学とはコロナ禍に学術交流協定を更新し、新型コロナウイルス感染症が収束に向かう中、新たに理工系分野を中心に本学との学生や研究者の交流を発展させるため、本学の元留学生であるManoppo工学部長が学長代理として協定書を持参し、本学関係者との対面での意見交換も目的として訪問したものです。

　本学からは、兒玉学長や山下教育担当理事・副学長、寺本国際担当理事・副学長、三島副学長（国際担当）等が元留学生たちを温かく出迎えました。兒玉学長より、学長代理を務めた元留学生に対して、本学の再訪問に対する歓迎の意と、これまで両大学が協力して取り組んだ人材育成の取り組み等に対して感謝の意が述べられました。その後、学術交流協定書が手交され、兒玉学長から、佐賀県の有田焼の陶板を記念品として贈呈するとともに、今後の両大学による学術交流の発展を確認しました。

　また表敬後、一行は、後輩となるインドネシアからの留学生らによるキャンパス紹介によって本学を懐かしむとともに、翌日となる２５日、豊田理工学部長、三島副学長や理工学部の教員も交えて、今後の具体的な研究や教育交流について意見交換を行いました。

　今回の訪問を機に、両大学の交流の広がりとともに、本学を卒業した元留学生が多数活躍するインドネシアの学術交流協定校との人的ネットワークの強化が図られることが期待されます。

On April 24th-25th, Fabian J. Manoppo, the dean of the engineering department at Sam Ratulangi University in Indonesia, with whom our university has had an inter-university exchange agreement since 2002, visited our university as a representative of President Octovian B.A. Sompie, who graduated from our university and is now active at our university. Four former exchange students of our university who are active at our university paid a courtesy call to the president.

Amid the subsiding of the COVID-19 pandemic, our university has renewed its academic exchange agreement with Sam Ratulangi University, aiming to expand exchanges of students and researchers in the fields of science and engineering. Mr. Manoppo, a former exchange student of our university, visited as a representative of President to exchange opinions face-to-face with our university officials and to bring the renewed agreement.

President Kodama, Director and Vice President Yamashita in charge of education, Director and Vice President Teramoto in charge of international affairs, and Vice President Mishima (in charge of international affairs) warmly welcomed the former exchange students. President Kodama expressed his gratitude for the efforts of both universities in nurturing human resources and his welcome to the former exchange students who served as acting presidents. After that, an academic exchange agreement was exchanged, and President Kodama presented a commemorative plate of Arita-yaki pottery from Saga Prefecture as a gift, confirming the development of academic exchange between the two universities in the future.

After the courtesy call, the group familiarized themselves with our university through a campus tour conducted by Indonesian exchange students, who are now our juniors. On the following day, April 25th, Dean Toyoda of the Faculty of Engineering and Vice President Mishima, along with faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering, exchanged opinions on specific research and educational exchanges in the future.

With this visit, we expect to strengthen the personal network between our university and Sam Ratulangi University, an academic exchange agreement partner school in Indonesia where many former exchange students of our university are active, along with the expansion of exchanges between the two universities.
