平成28年度佐賀大学大学院入学式（10月期）告辞 President’s Welcome Address for the Autumn Entrance Ceremony for graduate school.
本日、佐賀大学で学ぶためアジアの7か国から集まってこられた20名の入学生の皆さん、入学おめでとうございます。新たに佐賀大学の一員となった皆さんを、教職員、学生たちとともに心から歓迎します。
Congratulations on your admission to Saga University to each of the twenty (20) students representing seven (7) Asian countries who have come to study here. I, along with the faculties, staffs and students of Saga University, would like to give a hearty welcome to you.
これからは皆さんには、本学の学生として誇りと自覚を持ち、そして新たな佐賀大学の歴史を紡いでいくことを期待します。
It is my sincerest wish that you are proud and aware of your responsibility as students of this university and that you will create your part in a new history of Saga University.
本学に入学するにあたって、留学生は母国での選抜や日本への渡航、社会人の方は勤務先での所要の手続きなど、ご苦労が多かったことと思います。
To enter this university, I assume that you have had a lot of hardship; The process of screening in your home countries and coming to Japan, or procedures at the place of your employment if you work in your home country.
晴れて入学された今、それぞれ専門分野での学業、また佐賀でのキャンパスライフに向けて、様々な希望と期待を持っておられることでしょう。入学生一人一人が思い描く学生生活が実現できるよう、教職員一同サポートしていきたいと思います。
Now, enter Saga University with happiness, as I believe that each of you has many hopes and expectations for your research and campus life in Saga. I, along with the faculties and staffs will support you and hope your dreams will come true in your school life.
世界遺産に登録された三重津海軍所跡や、古代の生活を現代に伝える吉野ヶ里歴史公園などの歴史遺産、また創業400年を迎える有田焼や唐津焼をはじめとする伝統工芸産業などは、国内外で高い評価を受け、さらにその価値が再認識されています。
Saga has historical heritage places such as Mietsu Navy Ruins, which is registered as a world heritage site and Yoshinogari Historical Park which shows the Japanese ancient lifestyle, and also traditional art industries as Karatsu ware and also Arita Porcelain which is celebrating its 400 year anniversary. They are highly valued in Japan and overseas and its value has been rediscovered recently.
皆さんの在学中に是非こうした佐賀の魅力を体感していただき、感性を磨き、教養を高めて、一人の人間としての魅力を深めてほしいと思います。
While you are in Saga, I hope that you experience the attractions in Saga, be more open to experience new things, increase your knowledge of culture, and deepen your charm as a person.
皆さんの佐賀での滞在が、学問に限らず意義深いものとなり、将来のキャリアに繋がることを願っています。皆さんのご多幸をお祈りいたします。
